Tigers Trounce Frights Away

Balmain Tigers climbed up the comp ladder as they trounced the Newcastle Frights away at Newcastle on Saturday.

The scoreline of 26-10 was indicative of the superiority of the Tigers over their opponents and a good sign for things to come.

In the junior ranks too the Balmain Tigers have qualified for the Jersey Flegg Cup finals when they scored 24 with Newcastle to meet the Maggies this weekend in the first quarter final.

TWT Sports Star of the Year grand finalist Jersey Flegg Tigers fullback Simon Greally scored a first up try followed by tries to John Nash, Luke Thompson and Jamie Nowland with four goals to Todd Barrow.

And congratulations again to our partners in crime at Ryde-Eastwood Leagues who continue on their merry way atop the Jim Beam Cup comp ladder with a 42-12 win over St Marys-Penrith.

They’ll play the opener at this Sunday’s big triple header at Leichhardt Oval HQ kicking off at 10.40am against Erina.

Balmain’s wingers Luke Milton and Frank Samia produced the goods with three tries and two tries respectively in Saturday’s Premier League victory with extras added by Luke with three over the little black dot.

This Sunday all roads lead to Leichhardt Oval HQ for the match of the season with the Tigers hosting the Banana-bending Brumbies from Brisbane. Big boys kick-off at 2.30pm.

And the true blue Balmain Tigers play host to the North Sydney Teddy Bears in Premier League at 12.15pm in a replay of the opening round when the Balmain boys bombarded the Teddies 36-16 at the Bear Farm.

An extra feature of the day will be the parade of the Balmain Tigers Team of the Century to be announced tomorrow night. Should be a day not to be missed. Then back to the Tigers Den for celebrations.

See ya there.
