Revised West Ryde Plan Ryde Council has at last approved the second stage of the West Ryde redevelopment after lengthy community consultation and input. The long-term redevelopment of the West Ryde precinct continues to gather momentum following the agreement of the council and community. Council has agreed to use the revised concept design which will now be given to the short listed potential tenderers, the Walker Corporation and Remo Properties. Following the approval, it wont be until June 2006 until the tenders are reviewed and brought before Council. The concept design proposed for 3, 5 and 5A Anthony Road features contemporary buildings with terraces on each of the three levels to give local community groups outside space to utilise. It will also have underground parking facilities with a main entry into the complex off Reserve Street. Council hopes the proposed $27m community facility will become a key centre in West Ryde with the inclusion of the much-needed new childcare centre. After recent disputes with the West Ryde Neighbourhood Childhood Centre (WRNCC), Council as well as other community stakeholders involved in the project are now in agreement. |
