Awards for advancing easy access

The City of Ryde Access Committee held its second successful Access Award presentation recently as part of celebrations for International Day of People with a Disability.

Local businesses, community organisations and individuals were recognised for their efforts in improving access to goods and services for people in Ryde, including those with a disability.

The awards also acknowledged those who had worked to provide opportunities to increase community participation.

The winners are: Retail and commercial: Winner - Eden Gardens and Garden Centre; Commended - Trelawney Pro-perty Holdings, Dolcini Café Putney; Recognition - Metro Service Station, Quarry Rd.

Health and Community Services: Winner - NSW Developmental Disability Health Unit (based at RRCS); Commended - State Transit (Ryde Depot);

Recognition - City Rail - West Ryde Station, New Hori-zons Enterprises, and Com-munity Connections Australia.

Community Initiative: Win-ner - Social Support Program, Gladesville Community Aid; Commended - Macquarie Customised Accessibility Services (M-CAS), 2RRR - Access in the City.
