West Ryde-Meadowbank Progress Assn Celebrates West Ryde-Meadowbank Progress Association members celebrated Christmas at Denistone Sports Club in Chatham Road West Ryde last week. MWRPA Appeal Great Success Members had plenty to celebrate about last week following the launch of an appeal by the Association to replace canopies at two Meadowbank Park playgrounds. The existing large canopies had fallen into disrepair and removed by Ryde Council many months ago. Now instead of the playgrounds enjoying good patronage they have become almost deserted MWRPA President Peter Bardos said. Ryde Council was planning to replace one of the missing canopies this financial year and the other one during a future financial period Mr Bardos said. The Association launched the appeal with $1,000 initial contribution and then Waterpoint Apartments pledged $2,000. Now Thiess Services from Rhodes have also pledged $2,000 and on the strength of these funds Ryde Council has agreed to immediately order the construction of the two canopies Mr Bardos announced. MWRPA is delighted and thankful that the children of our community will soon have a safe and shaded area to play in again, he added.
