Brothers charged for bashing boy

TWO TEENAGE brothers have been charged for maliciously attacking a 15-year-old West Ryde boy on Victoria Road in broad daylight.

The brothers, aged 18 and 16, were refused bail last week after attacking the boy last Wednesday. The boy had been waiting at a bus stop on Victoria Road near Marsden Road.

The boy was chased by four young men of Middle Eastern appearance through stationary traffic on Victoria Road before a nearby driver stopped and picked up the boy.

A pursuit followed after the gang got into a red hatchback and tried to run the other car off the road. The boy jumped out of the car at Griffiths Avenue, West Ryde where he was punched and struck with a metal bar.

After stealing his phone, they left the scene in the car they arrived in and witnesses came to the aid of the boy who was then taken to Ryde Hospital. Two days later detectives, armed with a search warrant, seized a red hatchback, mobile phone, baseball bat and a golf club from a house in Carlingford.

They arrested the teenage brothers and both were taken to Ryde Police Station and charged in relation to the incident.

A RYDE man was also attacked last Wednesday night. After he arrived home and parked his car in Myra Avenue, a car containing five men of Middle Eastern appearance pulled up alongside then approached the 26-year-old.

After a brief conversation the gang got out of their car and smashed the man’s car with baseball bats. As he tried to start his car he was struck on the head with a baseball bat by one of the men, but he managed to get out the car via the passenger-side door.

He hid in a garden until the men had left and went home to call the police and an ambulance. He suffered bruising and swelling to his head.

Police are looking for five men aged 25 to 30 years old and a white Ford sedan they were using. If you have any information phone 9879 9699.
