Shes hung up on charity calendar For Hunters Hill resident Janelle McIntosh, it was a matter of being in the right place at the right time when she got involved with the Leukaemia Foundations 2007 Nude Nuts Calendar. Actually I had contacted them to get formal approval to go ahead with my own fundraiser and thats how they found out I was a photographer ... and by that stage they were running out of time and so I offered my services, Ms McIntosh said. With her help, the foundation has produced a 12-page calendar featuring photos of various people living with various forms of leukaemia. Ms McIntosh volunteered her photography skills and managed to compile the photos in just three weeks. Ms McIntosh already knew what most of these people were going through, having been diagnosed with follicular non-Hodgkins lymphoma more than two years ago. I wanted to show them as an individual, and include things that were important to them, Ms McIntosh said. She is currently working hard to organise an art exhibition and auction, featuring her pieces - shes an artist, too - plus those of other artists kind enough to donate their works. Its coming along slowly at the moment but hopefully it will all come together in time for March. A number of items will be auctioned off on the night to raise money for the foundation and their work. The foundations free services include providing education and information, accommodation, transport, emotional support, home and hospital visits as well as numerous forms of practical and financial assistance to patients and their families. The Nude Nuts calendar is on sale for $10 and can be ordered from 1800 620 420 or www.leukaemia.org.au To get involved with Janelle McIntoshs fundraiser phone 0419 147 329.
Hunters Hill resident and photographer is also part of the Leukaemia Foundation calendar she helped compile.
