Call to check out site plans

Dear Sir,

I write regarding a comment made by a Royal Rehabilitation Centre spokesperson who stated that plans for the site were not misleading.

He also said the new building would remain at two storeys. I suggest this spokesperson check the plans again because they are not on exhibition on either the RRCS website or the Department of Planning website.

So, what is correct? The glossy brochure that has been letterbox dropped, or this well-informed spokesperson?

The brochure shows the new building will be two storeys to one boundary and five storeys for the remainder of the site.

We have come to expect a great lack of transparency from the RRCS. How can we know the true facts when we can’t see the plans?

The RRCS omitted to inform the community the subdivision plan was even on exhibition.

In September 2006 I asked a question of community consultation and still have had no response.

This whole issue is ‘spin doctoring’ at its best, and it’s a possibility we will end up with no hospital for the disabled. The RRCS have been given carte blanche courtesy of Planning Minister Frank Sartor.

Shed some light on stolen bulbs?

Dear Sir,

Shame on the light-fingered individual who stole 40kg of energy saving light bulbs, tools and a ladder from Beattie Avenue on Sunday last.

A young man was going door to door installing free energy saving light bulbs from which they gain income from the carbon credits.

The theft took away a man’s employment and now his boss insists he pay for the stolen items or he loses his job.

Pity, as he is a polite, legally working overseas student trying to get an education far from his family in his third world homeland.

All the offender had to do was ask and the lad would have gladly come to your house for free. If you know this thief please enlighten the police.

Chasing a reply on rehab centre

Dear Sir,

I call on Ryde MP and Deputy Premier John Watkins to respond to the following.

I do this because he doesn’t respond to letters sent by registered post to his office, yet appears to respond to letters to the editor.

Why did he meet with the management of the Royal Rehabilitation Centre at Ryde? when in his words:

* the Centre is not in his electorate (although it borders his electorate);
* he is not the Minister for Health;
* he is not the Minister for Planning.

Finally, who is the developer whose name is being withheld? Will we find that the developer who has been in the wings is a Labor Party donor?

I await eagerly your response either to our registered letters or to this letter to the editor.
