Town centre plan to go on show

Ryde City Council’s final draft of the Eastwood Town Centre - Transport Management and Access Plan has been given the green light to go on public exhibition.

Community members can comment on things like the installation of roundabouts, speed limits, foot crossings, road widening, overpasses, bus lanes, car parking, directional sign posts, plus more.

In compiling the final draft, a number of plans were prepared including traffic management, parking management, and access.

The plan also looks at promoting economic, environmental and socially sustainable growth, and encourages alternate forms of transport.

A whopping $1.2 million will be outlaid by Council for the design and landscaping of the heritage curtilage of Eastwood’s Brush Farm House.

The historic house, built in 1820 by explorer Gregory Blaxland, was last year the subject of a $3.3 million refurbishment, and is now being used as a community arts and cultural facility.

The site of Brush Farm showcases remnant vineyard terracing, remnant wianamatta shale base rainforest, areas of wet sclerophyll forest, and potentially significant archaeological resources.

Works on the grounds are expected to begin in July this year.
