Guest Speaker at Chamber meeting Ryde Councils Environment and Planning Group Manager Sue Weatherley was guest speaker at Monday nights Eastwood Chamber of Commerce May monthly meeting in The Eastwood Club. Sue Weatherley gave a presentation on Councils Draft Management Plan for Eastwood and outlined the capital works program planned for Eastwood worth over $3 million in 2008/2009. The program included an $800,000 public domain upgrade at Railway Parade, a new roundabout at Hillview Road and West Parade costing $100,000 and Eastwood Park upgrades worth $1 million. Further improvements to Brush Farm House curtilage and surrounds would cost $1.2 million. Inspector Jim Szabo reported that Eastwood has one of the best crime statistics in NSW running at 74 out of 80 for assault charges and a low overall crime rate. However, there had been an increase in car number plate thefts which he attributed to the high cost of petrol and Eastwood Police had found more cars than had been stolen in the area.
