Ex-Parramatta back rower John Muggleton, former Manly prop Ian Thomson and World Cup half Bobby Grant also began their careers in the Tigers junior nursery. Trailing 10-6 at the break, the Panthers staged a second half revival to overpower the visitors and consolidate a spot in the top eight. It was another frustrating performance by the Tigers, who lost fullback and skipper Brett Hodgson and rookie winger Beau Ryan with leg injuries on the eve of the match. They face a crunch match this Sunday against the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium. Former Tigers half Ben Roberts landed a 40 metre field goal to help the Bulldogs snatch a 25-24 victory over Balmain-Ryde Eastwood last Saturday at Leichhardt Oval. It was another cruel blow for Paul Fletchers Tigers who have now lost eight matches by three points or less. Acting skipper and back rower Tevita Metuisela turned in a powerhouse effort for the injury stricken Tigers with strong support from lock forward Jarred Farlow and talented utility back Matt Ryan. Despite the loss, coach Fletcher was full of praise for his patched-up outfit. Im proud of their efforts - we were missing key personnel and had to use two S.G Ball kids but the boys faced up to an almost first grade team - holding the lead for the majority of the game said Fletcher. I cant praise their commitment enough. * * *
