Ryde accepts Gladesville Dragon Boat Challenge

Ryde Chamber of Commerce has accepted Gladesville Chamber of Commerce Dragon Boat Challenge race at next month’s Ryde Aquatic Festival on Sunday September 14.

Gladesville Chamber president Reg Cain challenged Ryde, West Ryde and Eastwood Chambers of Commerce at Gladesville’s recent cocktail party launch of this year’s TWT Gladesville Chamber of Commerce Christmas Festival which will be held on Saturday December 6.

Ryde Chamber of Commerce president Charles Kilby says that as the defending Chamber champions Ryde is very happy to accept Gladesville’s “cheeky challenge” and will be delighted to defend their title.

New Ryde Chamber executive members at their first meeting said they were happy to endorse Ryde’s response and look forward to competing on Sunday September 14 on the banks of the Parramatta River at Kissing Point Putney and would welcome competition from other chambers as well.

Ryde Aquatic Festival chairman Robert Erskine said more Dragon boat entries are welcome with community and corporate teams of twenty paddlers but entries close soon.

“Everybody agrees it’s the fun of a lifetime competing in Dragon boat racing” Robert Erskine said yesterday “and we provide the boats, paddles, safety advice, insurance and training, but places are limited”.
