Year of the Scout theme in Festival Grand Parade

2008 is the official Australian Government sponsored Year of the Scout commemorating 100 years of Scouting in Australia.

To celebrate the event this year’s Granny Smith Festival Grand Parade will highlight Scouting with special awards for the best Scout entries.

Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club has donated $1,000 prizemoney for the awards with $500 first prize, $300 second prize and $200 third prize.

Scout groups are asked to register their entry with Ryde City Council as soon as possible.

Scout Groups are requested to clearly signpost their entries for Grand Parade judging.

This year’s festival is again fully booked with 280 street stalls and 60 acts on six stages with live bands and entertainment throughout Eastwood.

Carnival rides are again on Eastwood oval and park with an International Food Fair.

Festival concludes with fireworks and a family concert on Eastwood oval.
