Twins hit identical peaks in their HSC

Twins Clair and Jessie Stephens from Marist Sisters College are so alike even their outstanding
HSC results were almost identical.

Marist Sisters College has produced a near-perfect double act from fraternal twins Clair and Jessie Stephens in last year’s HSC.

The girls from West Ryde were hard to separate with Jessie achieving a University Admission Index (UAI) of 98.5, only slightly higher than Clair’s 98.3.

Jessie said the pair benefited from having a constant study partner from the same school.

“I’d ask Clair, and we’d always know what was taught in each other’s classes,” she said.

Both girls won premier awards and scored over 90 in Modern, Ancient and Extension History, the HSC subjects they shared.

The girls’ recent achievements are a great result for the school that prides itself on innovative teaching and a strong community and family spirit.

The college is looking forward to an even more successful 2009 as it celebrates 100 years since the first class was taught at the school.

A $4 million building and renovation program is due to open at the start of first term, offering a new state-of-the-art library, music rooms and renovated classrooms.

The teachers are trialing a new method of teaching for Year 7, which combines different subject areas such as Maths and English into one unit with specialist teachers.

The traditional house and tutor group system allowing girls from different grades to interact is to continue.

Where possible students are also matched up with the same tutor group teacher for their whole time at the school.

Marist Sisters College is looking forward to showcasing its new facilities and community spirit later this year on the Open Day on Sunday, April 5.
