Burns out his tyres then asks for trouble

AFTER BLOWING out tyres and extensively damaging his car doing burnouts, an intoxicated 33-year-old driver then tried to take on police called to the scene.

At about 11.30pm on Sunday officers responded to reports of a car doing burnouts in Shepherds Drive, Cherrybrook. When they arrived officers saw pieces of a car tyre over the roadway.

A motorist directed them to a car, which was parked across a driveway in Blackwattle Drive. The car had extensive panel damage and two blown tyres. There was also damage to the wheel rims.

Officers then approached the Cherrybrook man in the driver’s seat. He stumbled and almost fell over when he got out of the car. He had to be restrained from attacking police, before he was subjected to a roadside breath test that proved positive.

The man was arrested and taken to Hornsby Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis which read 0.192. The man was issued with a court attendance notice for drive with high range prescribed concentration of alcohol. His licence was also suspended. He will appear at Hornsby Local Court on July 23.

A DISQUALIFIED driver was caught drink driving on Friday June 19. At about 1.25am a 25-year-old Eastwood woman was driving her car on Rawson Street Epping when she was stopped by police because of her manner of driving.

She was subjected to a roadside breath test which proved positive.

The woman was arrested and taken to Eastwood Police Station where she underwent a breath analysis which read 0.206.

Enquiries revealed that the woman’s licence had been disqualified until March 2011 and the car she was driving was not registered. She was issued with a court attendance notice for drive with high range prescribed concentration of alcohol, drive while disqualified and use unregistered vehicle on road.

She will appear at Ryde Local Court on July 22.

A MAN has been arrested in relation to a robbery on May 11 at Eastwood.

A residential premises in Wingate Avenue was broken into via the rear ground floor door. A number of rooms within the house were ransacked and an amount of cash and jewellery was stolen.

Officers subsequently identified a distinctive item of stolen jewellery that was pawned at a second hand dealers store in Telopea later that day.

On Saturday a 28-year-old Rydalmere man was arrested at Eastwood Police Station and taken to Ryde Police Station and charged with break, enter and steal.

The man was also charged with five other offences relating to the possession and disposal of stolen property. Bail was refused and he will next appear at Blacktown Local Court on June 29.

A FIRE broke out in the garage of a building in Victoria Road at Gladesville on Monday June 29.

At about 12.20am the fire brigade was called to the property where the garage backs on to Massey Lane. On arrival the building was well alight and brigade officers had to force entry.

It was confirmed the garage area was used to store clothing for the attached business and the area was extensively damaged with other damage being caused to an adjoining building.

Investigations are continuing in relation to the cause of the fire.

A MAN has been arrested for the assault of a 50-year-old man at Gladesville RSL on May 1. The 45-year-old attacker allegedly punched the victim a number of times. On June 22 the man was arrested and taken to Ryde police station where he was charged.

TWO 16-year-old boys were arrested for stealing property on June 26.

Police were patrolling Victoria Street in Gladesville at about 2am where the boys were seen wearing bandana’s concealing their faces.

Officers searched the boys and found a quantity of stolen property including mobile phones and jewellery. They were arrested and taken to Ryde Police Station where they were charged.
