KUNG HEI FAT CHOY is the Chinese way of saying Happy New Year and Prosperity in the year ahead but the Lunar New Year celebrations in Eastwood will be more than just that.

According to Clr Justin Li chair of the City of Ryde festival committee this year’s celebrations kicking off on Valentine’s Day Sunday February 14 also embrace Koreans, Vietnamese, Japanese, Cambodians and Malaysians.

And Justin rightly says this year will be specially significant for TWT Territory as it’s the Year of the Tiger! See Justin’s special Guest Column this week Page 9.

ROB and CAROLIN Wilkin-son hosted a Thank-you party at their East Ryde home last Friday night for supporters of the annual TWT North Ryde Rotary Community Christmas Carols Spectacular in North Ryde Common on December 20.

Rob is current president of North Ryde Rotary and was supported by Macquarie Park Rotary president Roseanna Gallo and members.

Proceeds from sponsorship and sales on the night go to ROMAC (Rotary Overseas Medical Aid for Children) which brings needy children to Australia for medical treatment.

The latest addition arrived just last Saturday from Papua New Guinea and was collected at the airport by Rob and supporters. A truly worthwhile humanitarian project. More next week.
