New Bus Shelter Wanted Lane Cove MP Anthony Roberts is calling for a new bus shelter for commuters at Trim Place Gladesville. The bus stop on Victoria Road near Linsley Street has been moved in front of Trim Place without consultation and with little or no consideration given to providing protection from the elements. Mr Roberts said he realised the problem when waiting the other day for a bus to Ryde when standing in the rain with local constituents. “I have raised the matter with both Ryde Council and the RTA to ensure that commuters do not have to stand in the rain or hide under nearby business awnings and run to hail the bus”, Mr Roberts said. “To force workers, the elderly, mums with prams and people with a disability to wait unprotected from the elements is not only unfair but also irresponsible. “I will keep pressing Ryde Council to provide suitable protection as soon as possible and also raise the issue with the Minister for Transport and Roads. “I will ask the Minister to ensure that in future more consultation is conducted with local councils and the community when bus stops are installed or relocated”. Mr Roberts added: “This is all about standing up for local residents and making sure they get the best possible services available”.
