Keen punter Prieta
chalks up century
GARDENING, music and a regular punt on the horses are ingredients for longevity, according to Clermont Nursing Home Ryde resident Prieta Lopez (pictured) who celebrated her 100th birthday recently. Evergreen Prieta - who was born in Tasmania on January 28, 1910 - was given a special birthday treat by Nursing home staff - with music high on the agenda. She was joined by 23 family members who travelled from Newcastle, Stanwell Park, Victoria and Queensland to salute the former Queenstown native who spent 75 years with sister Isabelle in the Sydney suburb of Naremburn on the lower north shore before moving into the Clermont Nursing Home eight years ago. Prieta’s surving siblings Farrell,94, and Margaret, 90, were by her side on the big day along with nieces, great nieces and nephews. |
