Rotary to the Rescue!
Kenny here for surgery

Kenny was keen to try on JB's trademark bowler hat.

He is a long way from home, but last week five-year-old Kenneth showed no fear despite heading to hospital last Friday for an operation.

Kenneth has travelled from Mount Hagen in Papua New Guinea with his father Ari to have reconstructive work completed on his face after he fell into a fire when he was aged one.

He will be treated at Westmead Children’s Hospital by head of Burns Unit, John Harvey and plastic surgeon Robert Gates.

With his first operation scheduled last Friday, the amount of further treatment is unknown.
This surgery would not have been possible without the Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC) along with both North Ryde and Macquarie Park Rotary Clubs.

North Ryde Rotary President and ROMAC chairman Rob Wilkinson said Kenneth and Ari have been fortunate enough to stay in the area with Bernard and Helen Chan in Marsfield.

“I thought it would be nice for all club members who raise money for ROMAC to have a patient in their midst,” Mr Wilkinson said.

ROMAC funds benefit from the TWT Rotary Community Christmas Carols Spectacular held annually at North Ryde Common. Last year $20,000 was raised. This year?s carols are on Sunday December 19.
