$100k grant to restore ‘green’ corridor

Lane Cove MP Anthony Roberts last month presented a cheque for $97,566 to Ryde City Council General Manager John Neish to re-connect the ‘green’ corridor between Lane Cove and Parramatta rivers. They are joined (in the picture) by Hunters Hill Council bushland officer Jacqui Vollmer and City of Ryde project manager Gith Strid.

The River to River grant will go towards restoring the flora and fauna in the corridor, which occupies areas in both City of Ryde and Hunters Hill councils.

Groups of volunteers will be guided by the councils to restore the area and residents are being invited to join in.

Those living in Ryde can find out more about becoming a volunteer by phoning 9952 8222. Hunters Hill residents can phone 9879 9400.

The restoration of a riparian corridor along the Lane Cove river between the Fairylands and Fullers bridges was also given a boost last month. Mr Roberts presented a $50,310 grant that will go towards helping restore the area.
