Flashing lights get a warm reception

Ryde MP Victor Dominello (centre) joins students from West Ryde Public School at a special assembly to celebrate the installation of flashing safety lights. The lights, which ask drivers to ‘check speed’, have been erected on private property at the rear of the school on Bennett Street.

Mr Dominello campaigned for lights which were made possible by the fundraising efforts of North Ryde Rotary Club. Mr Dominello addressed the students and presented community spirit awards to members of the school community.

They included: Pat Perrin, North Ryde Rotary Club; Marg Somerville for 17 years of support; Tina Bean co-ordinator of the uniform shop and president of the before- and after-school care; Alex Jenkins, P&C vice president and fundraising co-ordinator; and Robyn Emira, who has a long association with the school and is part of the P&C committee.
