Man charged over indecent assaults

A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged after an investigation into indecent assaults upon women at Meadowbank on August 19
and 22.

About 7.30am last Thursday police stopped the man while he was driving in the Meadowbank area. He was arrested for summary and drug offences. Detectives subsequently interviewed him in relation to other offences.

He was later charged at Ryde Police Station with two acts of indecency, wilful and obscene exposure, possessing a prohibited drug, custody of an offensive implement, possessing breaking implements and traffic matters.

He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Court on September 8.

TWO MEN were arrested in relation to a robbery at West Ryde McDonalds on August 14.

At about 2.55am on that date a 27-year-old man saw a number of men allegedly abusing a staff member at the drive-through booth.

The man used his mobile phone to take registration details of the vehicle. The occupants saw him doing this and they left the vehicle and allegedly assaulted him by punching him a number of times to the head.

During the incident, one of the men allegedly took the victim’s phone.

On August 19 a man, 20, was arrested and taken to Hornsby Police Station where he was interviewed and charged.

The following day another man, 24, was interviewed at Ryde Police Station.
Both men have been charged with robbery in company and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

A WOMAN, 25, was arrested in Ryde for drug offences.

At about 12pm on August 19 police saw the woman driving along Lane Cove Road. They followed her into Quarry Road and tried to stop the vehicle when two plastic bags were allegedly thrown from the vehicle.

The vehicle was stopped and police retrieved the plastic bags which allegedly contained a quantity of cannabis.

The woman was arrested and taken to Ryde Police Station where she was charged with supplying and possessing a prohibited drug.
