Man found dead in Lane Cove by local officers A man has been found dead at a caravan park in Lane Cove. He was found by police around 5pm last Friday at the caravan park in Plassey Road, Lane Cove after concerns were raised about his welfare by another caravan park resident. Police are expected to prepare a report for the Coroner on his death and it is not known if he had family or friends. *** A 50 year-old Meadowbank man has been charged with assault and trying to set fire to a bedroom following a domestic dispute in Meadowbank on Friday night. Police said the dispute occurred around 9.30pm on Friday after the man returned to his home in Bay Drive and became involved in an argument with his wife. The argument is alleged to have turned violent and the man assaulted the woman and then attempted to set fire to a bedroom. The woman was able to flee from the house and report the assault and arson to police who say she was badly bruised. A police search later located the man at a property in Eastwood where he was arrested. *** A combined strike force of Gladesville and Eastwood Police investigating a series of armed robberies in Sydney’s north-west arrested a 20 year old Ermington man at Sydney Domestic Airport last week. Strike Force Orarah, comprising Eastwood and Gladesville detectives, had been investigating robberies that have occurred in the West Ryde, Marsfield and Eastwood areas since December. These include a number of street robberies and the arrested man was taken to Ryde Police Station where he was subsequently charged with three robberies. Police said a search warrant was also executed at a home in Ermington last week and a number of items including SIM cards and phone accessories were located. These are being examined to determine any links to Strike Force inquiries.
