RYDE SALVOS Major Topher Holland wants to thank all who helped with last weekend’s Red Shield Doorknock Appeal.

Donations were unfortunately down on last year which means some of the Salvation Army’s social services will have to be curtailed or reduced unless late donations make up the difference. Credit card donations can still be made on 13 32 30.

Topher especially thanked the young people who helped and the Ryde Rotarians led by Ryde mayoress Nora Etmekdjian.

EMMA WATKINS our new Yellow Wiggle is a real local girl. She attended North Ryde Public School where like the cream rising to the top she was school captain.

Of course she hit the front pages of The Weekly Times in 2004 as our TWT Gladesville Christmas Festival Teen Queen where she starred in the grand parade through Gladesville and officially opened the Gladesville Christmas Festival.

She then later went on to become our 2009 TWT Miss Eastwood Granny Smith Festival Queen where she starred in the Granny Smith Festival grand parade
