Auxiliary stalwart Thora honored

LONG serving Gladesville RSL Women's Auxiliary member Thora Moxon of Gladesville has received an ideal Christmas present - life membership of the NSW Women's Auxiliary.

Thora, who chalks up 20 years service with the Auxiliary next month, was presented with her framed Life Membership certificate at the Auxiliary Christmas Party luncheon last week at Gladesville RSL Club. She is pictured receiving the award from Pauline James, State President RSL Central Council of Women's Auxiliaries (left), Gladesville RSL Women's Auxiliary president Enid Haslop and Gladesville RSL Community Club and Sub Branch president Jim Butt.

Tireless Thora, who has served as treasurer for 18 years, was recognised for her outstanding work over the past two decades in all areas of the Auxiliary's activities. She began as treasurer in 2001 and completed this task with dedication and resolve, much of that time while nursing her extremely ill husband.

Through the years she has assisted with the Anzac Day and Remembrance Day appeals; visited sick men and women; helped with demonstrations by cooking cakes and slices and also being a model in the Spring and Autumn fashion shows.

Thora has volunteered numerous hours in selling and buying raffle tickets for Christmas Raffles, making cakes and biscuits for street stalls and always working diligently for the Auxiliary. TWT on-the-spot PHOTO.
