The former champion five eighth won premierships with Penrith and the Roosters during an illustrious career that spanned 336 games.
He was awarded the Golden Boot award in 2000 for the world’s best player and was named among the finest rugby league footballers of the first century of rugby league in Australia.
Fittler is the only player in history to win two Rugby League World Cups as a team captain.
He skippered the Kangaroos to victory in both the 1995 and 2000 Rugby League World Cup finals and was also a member of the victorious 1992 World Cup-winning team.
