Ryde MP Victor Dominello will continue to stand up and fight overdevelopment in Ryde despite claims in The Sydney Morning Herald that a former Ryde Liberal councillor felt “intimidated” by his strong concerns about a local.
Mr Dominello said he has never intimidated any councillor but will continue to uphold “a duty” to raise community concerns with people who represent the community.
“I will always oppose overdevelopment and what I see as inappropriate development, I’ve been fighting this issue since day one and I will not be silenced over it,” he said.
“This is my job, I’ve spoken out about my concerns about the proposed Allengrove development for example because overdevelopment is an issue and it is a political issue, probably the number one political issue in Ryde at the moment.”
“And we all want candidates who understand local issues.”
Mr Dominello said it was common for specific development issues before councils to become political campaign issues – such as The Greens opposition to the proposed $12 million upgrade of the Bondi Beach Pavilion before Waverley Council – and that MPs and councillors regularly discuss these issues.
