Happy Hunters Hill Toastmasters Club recently hosted the Area 25 International Speech and Evaluation competition.
Six local clubs including Enthusiastic Epping, Bon Appetit, Ryde District, Leaders in Action, Nielsen Toastmasters and Happy Hunters Hill competed.
The Evaluation contest commenced with a target speech about a little red car as a metaphor for the little red riding hood story.
Under contest conditions a contestant representing each club evaluated the speech.
The judges then gave each a score, using contest judging criteria.
First place was Sarah Brayshaw from Nielsen Toastmasters; second place was Peter Koorey from Ryde District and third place getter Raphael Haddad from Happy Hunters Hill.
The International Speech competition was very entertaining with six high-quality speeches.
Husain Patel from Nielsen Toastmasters took out first place after he spoke about the diversity in culture seen firsthand from the many countries he has called home.
This speech enthralled the audience and wooed the judges.
Runner up was Daniel Tucker from Happy Hunters Hill and third place getter Janet Read from Enthusiastic Epping.
Sarah and Husain, both members of the Nielsen club, advanced to the next level of competition at Pennant Hills Community Centre.
