NORTH Ryde Hawks – one of the proudest rugby league clubs in the Balmain Junior nursery – are celebrating their 60th anniversary in 2018.
The mighty Hawks – who produced former Kangaroos prop Ian Thomson and ex-first grade stars Wayne Wigham, Garry Webster, Paul Clarke and Mitchell Pearce – have a big season planned with special events to mark the Club’s milestone achievement.
North Ryde JRLFC president Glenn Hillier said the Club was organising a special 60th Anniversary Dinner, where they hoped to have Hawks’ life members plus members of the Team Of The Half Century along with present-day Hawks and those of yesteryear in attendance.
“We will also have a 60th Anniversary Back To Hawks Day at TG Millner Field on Sunday April 29 where Aussie rock legend Diesel (Mark Lizotte) will entertain the Hawks crowd playing his best hits on the back verandah of the clubhouse,” said Glenn.
“There’s also a 60th Anniversary Golf Day planned as well as regular Club events for the kids throughout the season such as the Tug-of-War, Relay Race and Kicking Competition plus our much loved annual Sportsman’s Luncheon.
“2018 is going to be a massive season for the Hawks that we hope kids from all over the Ryde district will want to be a part of.”
North Ryde Hawks have organised a Registration Try Rugby League Day this Sunday February 11 at ELS Hall Park North Ryde from 10am to 12 noon.
