COMBINED Churches of Hunters Hill are joining forces to honour the significance of Good Friday with the annual walk through Hunters Hill on April 14 to remember the agonising walk of Jesus, bearing the Cross to His death.
It is a solemn occasion of reflection before celebrating His glorious Resurrection on Easter Sunday.
The first scenes on Good Friday take place at All Saints Church, Ferry Street, Hunters Hill at 10.15am; then a walk to the Hunters Hill Club car park in Madeline Street via Ady Street; then the Congregational Church Garden, Alexandra Street; across the overpass to St Joseph’s Convent, Gladesville Road and finally down Rocher Avenue to the rear entrance of Villa Maria, where the final scenes including the Crucifixion take place.
After the burial of Jesus in the historic stone tomb (a small chapel in the church grounds), walkers are offered some simple refreshment, before going home to consider the meaning of the life and death of Jesus Christ and the triumph of Easter.
All welcome. Walk concludes around 12 noon. Bring your umbrellas – it is usually wet or very hot and sunny. Inquiries Adrienne Ryan 9817-5884 or 0408 070 408.
