Marsfield actor Courtney Powell is off to London this week to star in a new musical titled; Fruity and The Tweet.
“Fruity and The Tweet, is loosely inspired by the Disney classic Beauty & The Beast,” Courtney said.
“I will be the lead female in the show and we will be premiering the show in London in the last week of July, then taking it on the road to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for August.
“Joe Kiely who I worked with Off-Broadway in New York City has written the music and Stephen Zappia has written the script.
“It’s the Edinburgh Fringe’s 70th anniversary this year and we’re very privileged to have been curated by The Gilded Balloon into their program.”
Courtney has also been cast as Matron Mama Morton in Willoughby Theatre Company’s October production of Chicago after writing her own show earlier this year.
“Earlier this year I starred in and co-wrote a mockumentary called God’s 17, which was produced by Charles Firth of The Chaser-fame.
“The show has been nominated for Best Writing and Best Lead Actor at the Los Angeles Web Festival.
“I’ve also been nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Seoul Web Fest -which is the only Web Festival in Asia -and the show has been nominated for Best Comedy, Best Screenplay, and Best Ensemble Cast.”
