OFFICIAL: World’s Best Footy Field !
Tigers HQ hosts Blues & Rahrah’s Wallabies!
Balmain Tigers Leichhardt Oval HQ has this week been endorsed as Australia’s best football field.
Endorsement comes from the NSW Rugby League Blues and the NSW Rahrah Wallabies choosing the hallowed Leichhardt Oval HQ for training for their big events this week.
Tigers skipper Woodsie and Teddy Tedesco have been quite at home in the past week at training with Blues teammates for tonight’s big blockbuster do or die State of Oblivion encounter at the Olympus arena.
And the Tigers duo are certain to star in tonight’s encounter in front of a home ground advantage crowd following on from their first round win in Bananaland.
Meanwhile the Tigers young new chums showed plenty of fighting spirit on Saturday night as they dished it up to the reigning premiers at the Cronulla goldfish bowl.
At half time the Tigers had the 2016 premiers on the ropes leading 12-4 largely through the efforts of rookies Matt Eisenhuth and Esan Marsters.
Rookie Matt was up against his older cousin and former Blues and current HushPuppies captain Paul Gallen for the first time and distinguished himself when he was responsible for feeding lock and stand-in skipper Eljah Taylor a short ball which resulted in the first of the Tigers four tries which gave them a 6-4 lead after 28 minutes.
Esan Marsters scored the second try to send the Tigers into the sheds at the break leading 12-6 thanks also to two conversions by 22 year-old new chum Tuimoala Lolohea.
Another rookie hooker Jacob Liddle zoomed in for a third try seven minutes into the second half followed by more brilliance from Kevin Naiqama with a cut out pass that sent another new chum Malakai Watene-Zelezniak crashing over in the corner to serve up a winning score of 22-14 with nine minutes to go leaving the Tigers top of an inverted comp ladder.
Tigers this Friday host the Gold Coast Tiddlies at Cameltown as they spearhead their climb further up the comp ladder. See ya there.
