The new K-6 school is due to open in 2020 and plans were released this week by Ryde MP Victor Dominello who said a Development Application is currently being considered by the Department of Planning and Environment.

The community will have an opportunity to view the plans on public exhibition later this month.

The plans for the new school feature a three-storey building that will include 43 classrooms to accommodate up to 1,000 students as well as a hall, a library, out of school hours care facilities and multi-purpose sports courts.

A kiss and ride area and 40 car spaces will also be included in the new development to help manage traffic in the local area.

“This is a really exciting day for me to finally be able to share the plans for this exciting new school with our community” Mr Dominello said.

“The new school will showcase the latest innovations in school architecture, providing flexible learning spaces specifically designed to cater for changes in teaching methods and technology.”

“The new school will help meet the growing enrolment demand in our area and shows we are providing vital local infrastructure to support Ryde families.”

Aurora College, which currently operates on the site will be relocated to Mowbray Public School as part of the new development.

Works are expected to commence in early 2018 with main construction works set to begin in mid new year 2018.
