Hunters Hill’s Skye Spider will play the role of ‘Friday’.

A LUCKY TWT reader has the chance to win a family pass (admit four) to the ever-popular Broadway musical Annie, which is playing at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre from March.

Producer John Frost for Crossroads Live is thrilled to assemble a stellar cast to bring this inspiring new Australian production to life, directed by Karen Johnson Mortimer and choreographed by Mitchell Woodcock.

Anthony Warlow returns as Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks, the role he has played twice  previously in Australia to great acclaim and in which he made his Broadway debut. One of  Australian theatre’s greatest leading men, Anthony has just completed the national tour of  Chicago, playing the charismatic lawyer Billy Flynn.

His extraordinary musical theatre roles  include in The Phantom of the Opera (as The Phantom), The Wizard of Oz (The Wizard) and Les Misérables (Enjolras).

With a career spanning two decades, Debora Krizak takes on the delicious role of Miss  Hannigan.

Debora has starred in shows such as Mel Brooks’ The Producers, A Chorus Line, Sweet  Charity, Cabaret, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You and Billy Elliot.

The cast includes talented young performers from TWT Territory – Matilda Casey, 11, of Rydalmere and Beatrix Alder, 10, of Drummoyne, in the role of ‘Annie’; and Skye Spiden, 11, of Hunters Hill in the role of ‘Friday’.

“The audition days were lots of fun. I remember walking in on the first day and seeing so many girls, I hadn’t done anything this big before!” Matilda says.

Beatrix said to be cast as ‘Annie’ was a “big dream come true and I’m very grateful that I get this opportunity of a lifetime.”

Skye said when she learnt she was in Annie, she burst into tears and couldn’t believe it was true.

“It’s an absolute dream of mine,” she said.

“I love it all—interpreting characters, costumes, sets, dancing and singing.  I’m happiest when on stage so can’t wait to perform!

“Now I’m in it, I’m just in awe at how amazing the adults are and blown away at how a production comes together. I’m learning so much and am so grateful to be part of it.”

The musical won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book (Thomas  Meehan) and Best Score (Charles Strouse, Martin Charnin), the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, seven Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, and the  Grammy for Best Cast Show Album.

After the Broadway run of almost six years, it has  played in more than 22 countries worldwide including the UK, Argentina, Japan, Germany,  Sweden, Spain and Australia.

A celebration of hope, family and friendship. This small but mighty young girl has returned  to stick out her chin and grin once more!
