Ryde Sports Foundation (RSF) Sports Stars, Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder Ruby Betro and Sydney FC goalkeeper Alyse Oppedisano will join the CommBank Junior Matildas’ final domestic training camp before Australia’s debut in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, in Morocco later this year.
The Young Matildas will first meet Chile in the tournament on October 19.
Other camp participants with links to TWT Territory include Sydney FC defender, Willa Pearson; and NWS Spirit defenders Harper Pell and Rubi Sullivan.
Junior Matildas Head Coach Michael Cooper has called in a 28-player squad for the upcoming training camp, providing his coaching staff a final opportunity to make selection choices ahead of the squad announcement.
Australia qualified for the first-ever time for the showpiece U-17 event following the team’s fourth-place finish at the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026, with the tournament set to provide invaluable experience for Australia’s next generation of stars.
After the Junior Matildas’ clash with Chile, they will take on two-time champions, Spain, in their second group stage game in Group F.
Spain won the tournament in 2018 and 2022 and were runners-up in the 2024 edition of the tournament.
Mexico, Australia’s final group stage opponents, will be competing in their ninth U-17 Women’s World Cup and have come close to claiming the title, finishing 2nd in the 2018 tournament and picking up Bronze in last year’s edition.
